UAR, the smartphone application on architecture from the NAi, provides valuable information on architecture and the city you are, using text, images, video footage and archived material.

By using 3D-models, UAR can also show you what isn’t there anymore or has yet to be built. UAR shows the city how it was by showing buildings that were once there. The city as it could have been by showing models and blueprints of buildings that were never actually built.

Shift between buildings from the future, present or past, or shift from above ground to underground! Point your smartphone downwards and discover new underground stations, parking facilities, archaeological remains and much more!

UAR can be used on smartphones suited with a camera, compass and GPS. Point the camera towards a building and the app will add a layer of information based on your GPS-location.

How does it work?
In the opening menu you select a city and choose to look at the city via the Guide, a Route or Augmented Reality-view.

User generated content
Everyone can add a building to the UAR-database. You can add the office where you work, your university or that beautiful house in your street!

In the main menu of UAR, choose “Add”. Link UAR to your Facebook-account to start. Next, you add pictures of the building and add a few lines of information: who designed it, who lived there or where was it originally designed for? Anything interesting! You can also add this kind of information for already existing objects. Doing so, we can make UAR a complete database together!
